by Christina on August 23, 2009

Don’t suffer through panic attacks for your whole life. Don’t accept them as just an inevitable part of life. The following panic attacks cures can shorten your panic attacks to only a few seconds or get rid of them completely. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

For easier reading and organization, I have divided this article into the different treatments offered by the medical world. At the end is a program for treatment, that you can start right away. So here are the treatment methods.

Panic Attacks Cures

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy:

This is a kind of psychotherapy Cognitive therapy and the purpose is identifying and influencing irrational thoughts which cause anxiety attacks, through assumptions, behaviors, beliefs, and cognitions. This strategy helps you cope with panic attacks long-term. It can take months to determine irrational thoughts, to be replaced by rational once. This will help stop your anxiety attacks. Patients complain about the money and time these sessions require. Cognitive therapy can be used together with medications to stabilize moods.

Paper Bag Rebreathing:

As a short term treatment for anxiety attacks, paper bag rebreathing is thought of very highly by doctors and patients. Its purpose is to balance the oxygen and carbon dioxide in your blood stream. Many panic attacks come from breathing too deeply or fast, increasing oxygen levels in the blood. This leads to symptoms of panic attacks.

Medication:

Benzodiazepine drugs are the most widely prescribed drugs to treat panic attacks. Included are lorazepam, alprazolam, clonazepam, and diazepam. SSRI anti-depressants are also often prescribed.

Other Techniques and panic attacks cures:

Many people with experience with anxiety attacks have other methods they use for short term treatment. Among these are diaphragmatic or abdominal breathing. Breathing slowly through your nose helps correct the imbalance of carbon dioxide and oxygen. Another effective technique is simply to accept that you are, indeed, suffering a panic attack. Many people use coping statements or mantras. Talking to a supportive person is also helpful.

Hopefully this post has helped you learn about panic attacks cures. Don’t forget, not all anxiety attack treatments work for everyone. Pick the method that works best for you. But you should not just hope these attacks will stop on their own. This will not happen.
